It seems it is more about getting attention. With their bright colors and funky shapes, the London Olympic identity has gotten attention, but it seems much of it is negative (</span><span style="color: rgb(51, 102, 255);"><a style="color: rgb(204, 51, 204);" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1553545/Olympic-chiefs-under-fire-for-puerile-logo.html"></a><a style="color: rgb(204, 51, 204);" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1553545/Olympic-chiefs-under-fire-for-puerile-logo.html">click here</a><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);"> to read article).</span></span><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);"> According to this site, the logo is a rough depiction of the characters 2012, and they are designed to look like graffiti.</span><br /><br /><span style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);">Things could get interesting if design continues in this trend. I have my (somewhat negative) thoughts on the overly simplified Pepsi identity, but it has grown on me. Perhaps the London logo and identity style will grow on me a bit by 2012 as well. After all, that is still a few years away, and there might be quite a bit more of this style by then.
