This site goes along with quite a bit of stuff I've been seeing lately: a tendency to make design look different, even if that different is bad. It seems it is more about getting attention. With their bright colors and funky shapes, the London Olympic identity has gotten attention, but it seems much of it is negative (click here to read article). According to this site, the logo is a rough depiction of the characters 2012, and they are designed to look like graffiti.
Things could get interesting if design continues in this trend. I have my (somewhat negative) thoughts on the overly simplified Pepsi identity, but it has grown on me. Perhaps the London logo and identity style will grow on me a bit by 2012 as well. After all, that is still a few years away, and there might be quite a bit more of this style by then. I guess time will tell.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I already have a website, www.bobbyccreative.com , but that site is devoted to my portfolio and business, and it will not be updated that often. I see this blog as an opportunity for me to talk about what is going on in my life–be it work, fun, new experiences, etc. I also hope to use this site to keep people informed about my upcoming missions trip to Guetamala, as well as to share stories and photos upon returning. Also hope to post some ramblings on design and some links to some stuff I like.
I am from a farm in rural northeast Oklahoma (just outside of Jay). I graduated from John Brown University in Dec. 2007 with a double concentration in Graphic Design and Illustration. I worked for DaySpring Cards for a few years, but am currently working as a freelancer. I currently live in Siloam Springs ("God's Country"). I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I think that's just about it for now...
